Using quadratic equation for word problem

Question

Length of box (3x-5) ft; width of box (2x-1) ft, volume is 40 ft. What is x. I believe you have to use the quadratic equation but can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

A box requires three dimensions; you do not have the height.  The question is possibly misstated (there's something omitted).
