Mandy and Tamara are disagreeing over the problem 4/5 x 1/2. Did I do this problem right.

Mandy says that to multiply fractions, you have to multiply the numerators and then multiply the denominators. Tamara says that since there are four pieces in 4/5, the answer is half of them: 2/5.

1. Who is correct, Mandy, Tamara, or both of the girls? Show work to support your answer.

So for my answer when I did 4/5 x 1/2 I got an answer of 13/10= 1 3/10 . So neither of them are correct. DID I DO THAT PART RIGHT?

2. Will Mandy's Method work for Mixed numbers? why or why not? Use the example 1 3/2/3  in your explanation.

(IM NOT SURE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM)

PLEASE HELP ME!!
