Find the value of k for which the quadratic equation x²+5x+k=0 has no eual roots. please help. i m stuck at this for countless minutes.

if a quadratic has no equal roots (i.e. one 'double' root), then the discriminant must be zero.

 

That is, b²-4ac = 0.  In your case, discriminant is 5²-4(1)(k) = 0.  SOLVE FOR k.
