Lateral surface area is the area of the unwrapped cylinder. Total surface area is the area of all the flat surfaces. This includes the area of the 2 circles and the unwrapped cylinder.
LA = 2πrh
SA = 2πr2 + 2πrh
V = πr2h
where:
h = 7 cm
V = 448π cm3
From the volume formula, we can find the radius.
r = √(V / πh)
r = √(448π cm3 / 7 cm π)
r = √(64 cm2)
r = 8 cm
So now that you have your values of r and h, plug them into the formula to find LA and SA.
