What is the distributive property of 8 x 17?

In 4th grade there is a lesson about distributive property, so there is a problem I do not understand. I have searched on google, and also other internet websites. I have not found any answers to my question and then came here. I am hoping for an answer that is understandable and correct.

There is more than one way to write the distributive property in this problem, assuming you want to multiply 8 by a sum that equals 17.  Here are some examples:

8 x (10 + 7) = 8x10 + 8x7 = 80 + 56 = 136
8 x (12 + 5) = 8x12 + 8x5 = 96 + 40 = 136
8 x (13 + 4) = 8x13 + 8x4 = 104 + 32 = 136

etc.
