"social" pronunciation

Hi guys I'm really going crazy. Can anyone help me. In which states the word SOCIAL is pronounced with "sh" sound and in which with "s"? Thank you so much

I would say the New England states pronounce it with "sh", being that, back in colonial times, they spoke using old English.  Another state I could think of is the Southern states.
 
For example, they would say and spell "color" with a "u".  The result is "colour".

Yeah as for the color it's clear no problems. But this SOCIAL word is killing me. I feel stupid sometimes. I hear pple from east cost saying SOW-SHL but here in Cali lately I often hear SOW-SL... how come

In other cases, it is the battle between proper English and slang.  My advice is that if one wants to speak properly, one should listen to rap music less often.  Trust me on that one.  Also, use a dictionary if one is uncertain of how to spell a word because one's pronunciation could be incorrect.
 
For example:
 
because = proper English
becuz = slang

Such things are a fact of life when we live in a country with diverse ethnic groups, diverse nationalities, and diverse regional accents.  We just have to learn to live with the diversity in pronunciation, as long as we understand what words were intended to be communicated.  I will give you another example.  How many ways do people pronounce "nuclear?"  I have heard it as
