Okay so lets say i have a 1 gallon jog of saltwater. Is there a way to add or change the water in someway to seperate the sodium chloride in to its 2 base elements while still in the water and then the sodium reaction to the water.

As Kendra mentioned, the dissolved salt (NaCl) is already separated into ions. The ions are Na+ and Cl-. They are distributed throughout the salt water. You could separate them further by inserting 2 electrodes of opposite charges (+ and -) in to the water. That way, the Na+ ions will migrate toward the negative electrode, and the Cl- ions will migrate toward the positive electrode.
