Using the point-slope form of a line,
y - y1 = mx - mx1
where:
m = slope
(x1 , y1) is the given point
We can get the standard form of a line
-mx + y = -mx1 + y1
You know parallel lines have the same slope. So plug in the values into the formula to obtain
-(4/5)x + y = -(4/5)(1) - 1
-(4/5)x + y = -(4/5) - 1
Multiply both sides of the equation by -5.
4x - 5y = 4 + 5
4x - 5y = 9
