The growth in population of a city can be seen using the formula p(t)=6029e^0.008t, where t is the number of years. According to this formula, how many years will it take the population to double its year 0 value? round to the nearest tenth of a year.

2*6029 = 6029*e^0.008t after t years.

 

After dividing by 6029 we have 2 = e^0.008t

and let's take natural logs, giving

ln 2 = 0.008t
