Factor out 2x

(2x)(x^4 - 7x^2 + 10) = 0

 

2x = 0

x = 0

 

Now factor the remainder.

Recognize that x^4 is (x^2)^2.

You can work with it as is, or you can substitute u for x^2 to make it look like a normal quadratic.

u^2 - 7u + 10 = 0

(u-2)(u-5) = 0

u =2, 5

x = √u 

x = ±√2

x = ±√5
