A birthday party is being held for 20 people at an arcade. It costs $5 a person to provide food for everyone, and each game costs $1 to play. Assume that each person at the party plays the same number of games, x. Write a rule for the function n(x), the number of people who attend

Cost of attendance = 5(20) = $100

 

If x is the number of $1 games each of 20 

people all play then game cost = 20x

 

n(x) = 20x + 100

 

Above assumes there are 20 attending as

the prooblem seems to state and

n(x) is a cost function

 

If x is the number of people attending,

x ≤ 20, and the number of games each

person plays is g the cost function is :

n(x) = 5x + gx 

n(x) = x(5 + g); x ≤ 20
