An arrow is fired horizontally from the top of a 50.0 vertical cliff and lands 120 m away. At what speed was the arrow fired? Show your work please

Let us first find the time of free fall

 

t = square root of (2h/g) = sq root (2x50/g) = 3.2 approx

 

For horizontal motion distance moved is 120 m in time t

velocity = Distance/time

velocity = Distance / 3.2

             = 120/3.2 m   37.5 m/s
