A water balloon is dropped on the bull's-eye target from a stationary hot air balloon. The water balloons 353 m above the target. If the water ballopn accelerates downward at 9.81 m/s squared, how long will it take to get to target?

As the hot air balloon is at rest , the initial speed of water balloon is zero

 

Using H =  initial speed * t +1/2 ( accel) * t²

 

 

353 = 0*t +1/2 *9.81 * t²

 

Gives t² = (353*2)/9.81= 71.96

 t = 8.48 sec
