Determine how far a ball of 2kg will travel if thrown at 45 degrees from rest at 5m/s

I need to know the distance the ball will travel for a special work for physics class and just to learn in general.

Use the formula for the range R of a projectile.

 

R = v₀² sin(2θ) / g 

 

v₀ = 5 m/s

θ = 45°

g = 9.81 m/s²

 

R = (5 m/s)² sin[2(45º)] / (9.81 m/s²) ≅ 2.55 m

 

Note the range does not depend on the mass of the projectile.
