There are a few reasons of the Civil War in Russia, and among the major are the following:
1) rapid development of economical system without the proper regulations of the social and political problems;
2) shortcomings of the reforms of Alexanders II period (abolition of Serfdom when the peasants did not receive the land);
3) the economical crisis caused by the WWI, the Russian Empire was not prepared for;
4) a series of bad decisions of the bourgeois government created after the February Revolution of 1917, especially their calls to continue the WWI;
5) Bolsheviks Party coming to power under the populists slogans the masses liked a lot; the one-party dictatorship period started;
6) October Revolution of 1917 and "Red Terror" policy;
7) Mutual hatred of the poor and the upper classes who lost their property;
8) The shortcomings of the peace agreement in Brest (1918)
9) The Bolsheviks' policy of "Military Communism" in 1918 (nationalization of private business, and other extreme measures like terror against all kinds of opposition).
