First, start with thinking about rates. Everyday, we think of rates in miles per hour or some other distance per time.
Since they gave you the miles traveled in hours simplify these expressions
kangaroo: 15 miles/3 hours = 15/3 = 5 miles per hour
pogo-stick expert: 25 miles/5 hours= 25/5= 5 miles per hour
Next, since we know their rate of movement (5miles/hr) we can find how far they traveled in 6 hours
5 miles/1 hour x 6 hours = 30 miles
Since we need "how far" aka miles we take the rate and mulitply it by the hours so that the labels hours cancels out leaving miles.
