Projectile motion is the action of an object thrown into the air from a certain height. As the object moves in the direction it is thrown after a certain amount time, it reaches a maximum height due to acceleration of gravity. Then, the force of gravity influences the object to come back down to the ground in the same manner it was initially thrown. If you were to graph this motion, you will get a parabola that opens downward.
Projectile motion is sometimes called trajectory.
In the case of free ball motion, the object moves only up and down (vertical line motion).
