Will you please explain how you got to that answer? By following the order of operations, the answer should be -15.

Order used is called BEDMAS (Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiply, Addition, Subtraction)
these are the orders to solve the problems. 5-5x5+5
sincethere’s no BED we only using MAS.
5x5=25
25+5=30
5-30=-25
does ot make sense?

Since you used PEMDAS same as BEDMAS that’s used in New Zealand and Canada
BEDMAS (Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiply, Addition, Subtraction)
these are the orders to solve the problems. 5-5x5+5
 no BED we only using MAS.
5x5=25
25+5=30
5-30=-25
i think I’m wrong idk

5-25+5= -15 You forgot to make your 25 a negative when you added the five. Which is why you work from left to right not right to left.

You could even simplify the equation further as 10-25= or -25+10= but you have to remember that the 25 is a negitive number.

@Kui kui L. You're actually correct - the answer is -25. What nearly everyone else missed is the 5 at the start, which they seem to have thrown into the void. As it has the - next to it, you count it as a minus 5 (aswell as at the end there's the + 5). I'll explain it in Bodmas, which is more used throughout the world these days, but it actually is the same as PEMDAS or any other way. BODMAS Brackets. Order. Division Multiply Add Subtract. So the start would look like 5(-5x5)+5 --- Brackets done. (even though there's a bracket after the first 5 you count it as a minus 5. If it was a + instead of a minus, you'd count it as an extra plus 5) <3. This will also mean the order will be (((-5x5) +5) -5) atleast in a little more of a complex look. Basically it'll be minus 5 times 5. Plus 5, Minus 5. (remember add before subtract) -5x5 = -25. - Multiply done. There's no division. Now to add --- -25+5 = -20. Now to subtract --- -20 - 5 = -25. (as two minus' equal a plus). The answer is -25. Literally (grade 6/7) 11/12 year old maths problem here btw. Atleast in my school/country of the uk. EDIT - no idea how to format on this site, I've wrote it completely out with spaces and everything but it just forces it into one massive block :(!

Conor is wrong. It is not a rule that addition always happens before subtraction. The rule is that they both happen last after multiplication and division. From there, you always work left to right to solve the subtraction and addition. If you want to check this, type it in any calculator. The answer is -15.

I am wondering though, if you group the - with the 5 doesnt the equation change? Wouldn't it state 5(-5)×5 +5 if it were to go with the 5.

I agree Donnie W since there are no brackets. Calculator gives answer as -15 but it assumes there are brackets
