Advances in recycling technology could positively affect recycling rates in numerous ways. Simply, advances could make more materials recyclable, such as more types of glass, plastic, or metal. Progress may also make existing recyclable materials easier or more efficient to recycle; meaning we could use less energy to recycle the same thing, or we could get more recycled material out from the same amount of material. Lastly, advances could make it possible for more people to recycle, by offering more ways to for them to submit and collect recyclable materials for recycling.
