1/2x-4=3/4x

1/2x-4=3/4

Is the denominator 2x, 2x - 4, or is this 1/2 times x?
 
Also, is the term on the right side of the equation 3 over 4x, or 3/4 times x?

Not sure exactly what the equation is.
 
If it is 1/2x-4=3/4x:
  1/2x - 3/4x = 4
  -x/4 = 4
  x = -16
 
If it is 1/2x-4=3/4:
  1/2x = 4 + 3/4 = 19/4
  x = 19/2
 
If it is some other equation, please use parenthesizes to indicate the correct order.  Thank you.
