4x + 8y = 12

x + 2y = 3 if we divide thru by 4

2y = 3 - x

2y = -x + 3

y = -1/2 x + 3/2

 

x + 2y = -3

2y = -3 -x = -(x + 3)

y = -1/2 x - 3/2
