how do I use order of operation to solve this?

 5 + 4 (32-4)

      2 + 3

kids came home with homework and no notes.  I understand PEMDAS.  and I understand that this problem will involve division since it is a huge fraction.   I came up with 5 as an answer.  is this correct?

the other one that I wasn't sure about is:

       4 + 4
6 +  3  - 1   x 3          I came up with 12.  (figured the fraction should be treated like (4+4)/(3-1) so...do the parentheses first.  then, going L to R, x3, then add 6...  but, not sure.  help??
