y = a sin(bx + c) + d
a = amplitude
2π/b = period
-c/b = phase shift
d = vertical shift
a = √2
8π = 2π/b
-π = -c/b
d = -1
Solve for b and c and substitute into formula

When I did the formula the first time I got y= sqrt (2)sin (1/4x+1/8)-1....but I'm unsure about the horizontal shift

8π = 2π/b
b = 1/4
-π = -c / b
π = 4c
π/4 = c this might be the correction needed.
