linear equation

4a+6b=1.56 & 9a+7b=2.60, a = apple & b = banana. what is the cost of one apple and one banana? seeking the simplest and fastest way preferably without using a calculator.
this is a timed question, so i plan to re-use the method taught to me.

I get that 4.16/13 = 0.32, making it consistent with the answer below.

Right. Typo. Since 13 goes into 2 times exactly, a + b = 0.32.
 
i just wanted to show a different method of getting there.
