If 7/8 is multiplied by 4/5, will the product be greater than either of the two factors?

I am working on multiplying factors and I don't understand some questions like this one. Please explain to me. Math is not my best subject.

Four fifths of 7/8 will be less than 7/8 (because you've multiplied by a number less than 1).

Similarly, 7/8 of 4/5 will be less than 4/5.

 

This means that the product will be less than each of the original factors.

when 7/8 is multiplied with 4/5, the fraction would be 7/10=0.7 which is less than both the fractions.

Hi Quinn, the answer is no. Multiplying 7/8 * 4/5 = 7/10

 

7/8 ≈ 8/10

 

4/5 = 8/10

 

Both are greater then 7/10.
