Multiply the first equation by 8 and the second equation by 3 in order to make the F's cancel out when you add the two equations together.

 

32G - 24F = -144

15G +24F =      3

47G          = -141     Divide both sides by 47

            G = -3     

 

5(-3) + 8F = 1

-15 + 8F = 1

8F = 16

F = 2
