For f(x) = ax2 + bx + c, maximum/minimum occurs are -b/2a.
f(x) = 3x2 - 2x - 5, minimum at x = 2/6, or 1/3
 
Calculate f(1/3) for the minimum.

That is why you must calculate f(x).
