Siva,

Okay.  I say it is most likely a HW problem (which includes heating problem) because you are functional for awhile and then fail.  SW problems don't do this.  It seriously sounds like a heating problem.

I like your plan of attack.

1)Install this nice moller monitor (Your chipset is most probably in their database)
2)Use your laptop and pay close attention to CPU/GPU temps (especially as it fails)
3)If you are still functional, but temps are way above spec, then STOP EVERYTHING (Shutdown)!!!  Don't destroy your chips after you have identified the problem!!
4)Get the arctic ice and watch correct application vids YT (Don't forget to remove the old thermal paste FIRST
5)I have looked at your CPU heat specs.  Here are the upper limits on these chips:

AMD Turion Max Temp: 95C

You'll have to discover your GPU upper temperature limit   (This is the higher likelihood problem).

You didn't mention if your fan is functional or whether it is ON more than usual.  If your fan has failed, then this is the problem!

I should have added - CLEAN YOUR VENTILATION PATH FIRST!!!  Many times, although your fan is working, there are tons of dust bunnies and food, etc clogging your heatsink ventilation path - do this FIRST before worrying about thermal paste.

Silva,

No, I have no site for laptop repair.  I'm an electrical engineer who tutors on this site for math & science.  I happen to know a little bit about computers though. I have a Dell inspiron 1545 and do my own maintenance.

I watched the laptop video I suggested above (watch?v=FMK8SOYLxck).  Despite wearing a wriststrap, the technician is a BUTCHER and should probably be working on cars and NOT computers.  Nevertheless, follow him to 7min30seconds when he FINALLY turns the MB over to reveal the heatsink (huge copper bar).  This is what you will want to clean.  Clean the entire airway all the way to the fan.  Clean the fan/air ducts too.  Do NOT remove the copper bar as he did if at all possible.  If you do this, you will definitely need to reapply thermal paste.  The copper bar is 'glued' to the CPU/GPU with thermal pasted. You don't want to do that if at all possible.  Just get rid of the gung and dust bunnies (High pressure air is useful).

Anyhow, I'll await your results.  Good luck.

Cheers ;-)

Siva,

It's a shame Open Hardware monitor didn't work for you. I love that tool.  I saw the two screenshots from Tech power up.  I don't see any CPU/GPU temperatures.  Do the black diamond down-arrows allow you to access other sensors?  If not, perhaps sensors don't exist on your Toshiba Satellite.  That would surprise me though.  If you want to pursue it, I'd call Toshiba and ask them about it.  Hardware monitor shows the supported sensors in the documentation section.

I guess the next step is to clean out your dust bunnies as we talked about.  I looked at some comments about your laptop and many people seem to have had overheating problems that were resolved after cleaning.  You might search for a better YouTube video than the one I provided for you.  Here it is again. (watch?v=FMK8SOYLxck).

Some tips before you begin:

1)Use your phone or other computer to watch the YT video while working
2)Use a pill container (M,T,W,Th,Fr,Sa,Su) or dishes for each set of screws you remove
3)Be VERY careful with the ribbon attachments (they break easily)
4)Use compressed air to clean
5)Remove fan, inspect and thoroughly clean (perhaps replace if damaged)
6)Inspect the heatsink attachment to GPU/CPU (perhaps they became unbonded)
7)There is a possibility that thermal pads were used (not paste).  This is done when there is a larger gap between chip and the copper bar.  Talk to Toshiba first and ask for advice
8)Be methodical (not like the guy in the video ;-)

good luck
Tom D.
