Create an equation to determine the cost of the lessons with number of hours of lessons as the variable. Then substitute what you know and solve for hours of lessons.

The charge = $15 + $25h    h represents the number of hours

 

$290 = $15 + $25h

$275 = $25h                subtract $15 from both sides

11 = h                          divide both sides by $25

H = hours of lessons

 

$15 + $25H = $290

 

          $25H = $275

 

                H = 11
