Scientific notation fraction with multiplication,division and subtraction

Hi, whats confusing me is how do I subtract the 0.200 from the scientific notation.

So, Alex, when we multiply 2.24 by 5.464, we get 12.239. 10^-3(10⁴) = 10. Combining the two, we get 1.224 x 10².

 

1.224/1 = 1.224. 10²/10² = 1, so we are left with 1.224.

 

1.224 - .200 = 1.024.
