At a given point, the moon is 240,000 miles from the earth. How long does it take for light to leave a source on earth and reach the moon? Give the answer in second.(The speed of light is 2.998 x 10^8 m/sec and 1km = 0.62 miles.

I happen to know that the speed of light c = 186,000 miles per SECOND.

 

if we divide 240,000 miles by 186,000 miles per second, we get the answer approx 1.3 seconds.

 

You can use the other given facts to convert c = 3 ×10⁸ m/sec to the value that I quoted for c.
