If P(30,x) = P(30, x+2y) then
30! / (30-x)! = 30! / [30-(x+2y)]! ⇒ (30-x)! = [30-(x+2y)]!
There is a trivial solution:
y = 0
0 ≤ x ≤ 30, x integer
I am at a loss to find a non trivial solution.
30! / (30-x)! = 30! / [30-(x+2y)]! ⇒ (30-x)! = [30-(x+2y)]!
There is a trivial solution:
y = 0
0 ≤ x ≤ 30, x integer
I am at a loss to find a non trivial solution.
In general, if
(30 - x)! = [30-(x+2y)]!
then
30 - x = 30 - (x + 2y)
Then y = 0, and we are left with an identity:
30 - x = 30 - x
