A ball thrown vertically upwards with a speed of 19.6 ms-1 from the top of a tower returns to earth in 6s. Calculate the height of the tower.

Hassan is correct, except that in his calculation, he forgot to square the time in the second term.  I got 58.8 m once I corrected that.

relevant equation is h=h₀+vt-0.5gt²

when the ball reaches ground level at t=6s height is 0

so we have 0=h₀+19.6(6)-0.5(9.8)(6)^2

the only unknown is h₀  

h0=58.8 m if my math is correct I didn't use calculator.
