For polynomial inequalities we solve using these steps.

 

1) Factor the polynomial if possible.

 

x(2x^3 + 3x - 20) > 0

 

2) Set each factor equal to zero and solve for x.

 

x = 0 or 2x^3 + 3x - 20 = 0→using a graphing calculator we find x = 1.923348

 

3)  Plot the zeros on a number line.

4) Since we have < place )( at each zero.  We cannot include these in our solution because 0 is not less than 0.  Place ( at the leftmost end and ) at the rightmost end of the number line.
