Anand, 1 does not ever equal 5, 2 does not ever = 25, etc. and you are advised NEVER to use the equal sign in that way.

 

What you can say is a₁ = 5, a₂ = 25, etc.

 

Irfan has given a nice answer but your "1=5" notation is never acceptable mathematically.

It's a bit confusing the way this is written but the 5th term in the sequence 1,25,125,625... would be 3125.

 

The way I gathered this information is because the sequence is basically 5ⁿ

 

5¹ is 5

5² is 25

5³ is 125 

and so on.
