What is an Expression? and What is an Equation?

What is a mathematical expression? and What is a mathematical equation? What are the similarities and differences between them both?

An equation has an equal sign in it. An equation shows both sides are equal. 4+ 5 = 9 is an equation.

 

An expression does not have an equal sign. An expression is a group of terms with operators. 4x + 3y - 2z would be an expression since 4x + 3y - 2z doesn't equal anything.
