Q1. If 0.07 of a test is worth 28 Marks, how much is the whole test worth?

 

Q2. The sum if 3 odd numbers is 13. Find the largest value of their product?

 

Q3. Tom has a jar of lollies that weights 560g. If he ate a quarter of the lollies, the remaining jar would weight 430g. How much does an empty jar weight?

Q1. write a proportion: .07/28 = 1.00/x and solve for x.

 

Q2. a+b+c = 13; maximize abc.  All three (a, b, c) are odd integers. If two of them are negative and their absolute values are quite large, then the third of the numbers could be very large, and positive. example:  -1001, -999 and 2013; the sum is 13 and the product is 2012997987. Many more examples can be constructed, so I'm thinking that abc is unlimited.

 

Q3.By eating one quarter of the lollipops, Tom has consumed 560 - 430 = 130 grams. So 4 times this would empty the jar; 560 - 520 = 40 grams weight of the empty jar.
