x^2+9x-10=0 How to find X?

How to find X? The zero is really confusing me there.

x² + 9x - 10 = 0

(x + 10)(x - 1) = 0      FOIL

By the zero product rule:

x + 10 = 0

x = -10

Or

x - 1 = 0

x = 1
