What is the relationship between the three elementary row operations performed on augmented matrix and the operations that lead to equivalent systems of equations?

When we solve a system of equations by substitution, there is no similarity with matrix row operations. But when we solve a system by elimination, also called combination, it is virtually identical to matrix row operations. When you multiply one equation by a constant to make on of the variable coefficients match up, you have essentially performed a row operation.
