To determine the mass of CO2(g) lost simple carry out the following calculation:
mass CO2 = (mass AS) - (final mass)
at that point simply use stoichiometry to change to moles of CO2, which incidentally will also equal the number of moles of NaHCO3. Then, convert moles of NaHCO3 to mass of NaHCO3. Finally, determine percent NaHCO3 with this calculation:
% NaHCO3 = [(mass HCO3)/(mass AS)] x 100%
