First:  x * x = x²   

 

Outer:  x * [   ] = [  ] x

Inner:  3  * x = 3x

 

Last  3 * [ ] = -24

 

From this "Last" we can know to fill in all the blank ([  ]) with -8.

 

So the blank line should be: - 8
