my grade point average

I have a 98.3 for my math class, but I want to know if i do really bad on the final which is 25%of my grade will I still pass the class?

98.3(.75) + x(.25) > 90

 

This formula will tell you what you need on your final, x, to ensure you end with an average of 90 or higher.

It gives you

73.725 + .25x > 90

.25x > 16.275

x > 65.1

 

So you need a 65.1 to still end up with a 90 in the class. 

I would make sure to get a 66 because if you do that poorly they may not round up for you. 

If you want to solve for a different grade, replace the 90 with whatever you want and redo the math.
