To solve this you have two equations

X + Y = 0 and xy = -900

x = 0 - Y                           solve first equation for x

(0-Y)Y = -900                    substitute value foe x into second equation

-Y^2 = -900

Y = 30

so X = 0-Y = 0-30 = -30

substituting back into each equation to check

-30 + 30 = 0 

and 

(-30)(30) = =900
