Usman, the trick with anything under the radical sign is that it can't be negative, or less than 0, so your range is whatever makes what is under the radical greater than or equal to 0.

 

x + 1 >= 0

      x >= -1

 

So your range is x >= -1

 

Let's test. -2 is less than -1. -2 + 1 = -1 and we can't take the square root of -1, at least not for now.
