Hello:
Start by looking at the right hand side of the equation. Distribute
3(x-3)-->3x-9.
Your equation should look like: 7x-19=3x-9
Now, you need to put the constants on one side of the equation and the variables on the other side...remember, what you do to one side, you must do to the other...
7x-3x=-9+19 (I subtracted 3x from both sides and added 19 to both sides)
Combine like terms: 4x=10
Divide both sides by 4 to solve for x: x=10/4
Don't forget to simplify fractions! :) 10/4=5/2
