The volume of a cylinder is
V = πr2h
The surface area of the same shape is
SA = 2πr2 + 2πrh
SA = 2πr(r + h)
If we divide V by SA to get a simplified ratio, we get
V / SA = (πr2h) / [2πr(r + h)]
V / SA = rh / [2(r + h)] ----> simplified ratio
where:
r = radius = 1.7
h = height = 3
All you have to do is plug in the given values of radius and height into this simplified formula of the ratio.
