Why do we normally measure charge in μC instead of Coulombs?

Most charges are very small fractions of a Coulomb. It therefore makes sense to use a prefix such as the μ which means 1/1000000. An analogy would be measuring the lengths of household items such as a table, pencil, or window. You would inches, not  miles, as an appropriate unit.
