Using factor by grouping we get from 4x+4y-mx-my 4x-mx+4y-my which further implies by factoring the greatest common factor that 4x-mx+4y-my=x(4-m)+y(4-m), which hence by factoring the greatest common factor which is 4-m we get that x(4-m)+y(4-m)=(4-m)(x+y) and so with that said we are done.
