You can make a ratio from this

 

1050 miles is represented by 21 inches

x miles is represented by 46 inches

 

1050/x = 21/46

 

next you cross multiply to get

1050(46) = 21x

(1050)(46)/21 = x

2300 miles = x

 

Now double check to make sure the answer 'makes sense'.  To go from 21 inches to 46 inches, you double and add a little bit more.

To go from 1050 miles to 2300 miles, you double it and add a little bit more, so it seems like it works.
