x2 + 5x - 5 = 0
x2 + 5x      = 5                           add 5 to both sides
x2 + 5x + (5/2)2 = 5 + (5/2)2    complete the square
(x + 2.5)2 = 5 + 6.25                perfect square
(x + 2.5)2 = 11.25                     combine like terms
x + 2.5 = ±√11.25                    square root both sides
x = -2.5 ±√11.25                      subtract 2.5 from both sides
